A Little Secret.

April 29, 2010

So. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a little absent lately. And a bit sparse on the posting. But it’s not without good reason. For the past month & a half, I’ve been holding on to a little secret & have only shared with Steven and a handful of my closest friends. But Steven & I talked about it, and we think it’s about time to share with you all…

I have a new blog.

Not a new blog, as in, I’m leaving this blog behind. Or I’m replacing this one. But a new blog, as in, I’m trying to start something new. Thanks for always supporting me & encouraging me in all my little hobbies & interests — you guys are the best.

P.S. This doesn’t mean I’m abandoning this blog. I’m actually going to try to update more frequently… just wanted to fill you in on my life as of late. :]

Shower for Maria.

April 22, 2010

In March we pulled together a bridal shower for my dearest Oh Maria (soon-to-be Ko Maria, which doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but it’s a-ok). This journey to marriage has been a looo-ong one for them, so this shower was kind of a big deal… for me, for her, for everyone haha :]

I realized after I moved to Cornerstone that they do showers very differently from Lighthouse. Basic things are still the same… you know, make it cutesy, serve some brunchy type of food, play some games, etc. But 1) Cornerstone generally tends to make showers potluck-style, and 2) Cornerstone hosts showers in homes. What novel ideas! I was a little hesitant bringing up the potluck idea for Maria’s shower (I felt like a slacker bridesmaid), but I’m so glad I did, cause the food came out 100000x better than the norm. There’s no way we could have done it on our own.

Some decorations I put together:

Classic bunting & poms.

Bunches of ranunculus from TJ. Frames thrifted from Goodwill & painted white. And “air mail” notes for everyone to fill out about Maria & Alex.

Kraft paper & washi tape-wrapped favors.

Potluck. Thank you guys so much… and thanks Mimi for the bruschetta! (Aside: Steven & I went to this fancy Italian place last weekend & the waiter pronounced it brus-keta. Is that really the right way to say it? Have I been saying it wrong my whole life??)

Maria looked so pretty with her wavy hair & frilly apron. And of course her contagious smile :] Love you, Marii-aa!

Eight days and counting. :]

Little Isaac Shim.

April 1, 2010

I was going to post about Maria’s bridal shower, but I’ll have to save that for next time. Little Isaac Shim decided he was ready to come into the world this Wednesday, March 31. We got to visit them on Wednesday night, and were totally smitten by his adorable little face, feet, eyes, hands, and mouth! He is absolutely perfect — a perfect little (but not-s0-little) gift from the Lord!

Oh, Isaac, your mommy & daddy are going to smother you with love. And your Uncle Steve & Auntie Cathie are going to spoil you to pieces. Not to mention, your Auntie Julie & Uncle Mark. Oh, and your four incredibly happy grandparents.

Love ya, buddy, & can’t wait to see you again! :]
