Walk In Love.

April 29, 2009

Every transgression of the law finds its genesis in a stinginess of soul, a belief that we’ve got to protect our interests, fight for our rights, build our kingdom. These are the thoughts of orphans, not well-loved daughters and sons.

I love me my Elyse. :]

Paper Pastors.

April 24, 2009

Came across this article called “Porn & Paper Pastors” on Pyromaniacs via Challies. It doesn’t really have anything to do with porn. It was an insightful read into how pastors must feel in their day-in day-out ministry (it’s no wonder that so many pastors are discouraged and disheartened). A reminder to me to encourage my pastors, to be gracious with them, and to be a helpful member of their flock… :]

Smells Like…

April 22, 2009

This morning started out fairly normal. Got to work. Turned on my computer. Checked my mail. After about an hour though, it started to smell strangely like… poop. Turns out that the building across the street has these tri-annual poop disposals. Something about their pipe systems being outdated. Or something. The poop truck was parked across the street–only for a short while, mind you–but the odor lingered all morning. I got a headache and had to drink some strong tea to fight off the poop stench.

We finally watched Slumdog a couple nights ago. You know that one scene where little Jamal is stuck in the outhouse and wants so badly to see that famous actor? So in an act of desperation, he jumps into the poop hole and climbs out covered head-to-toe in brown muck. Honestly it didn’t look so bad, sitting on my comfy couch in a cool, dark room.

But dang, it stanks.

The stairwell by the elevator still reeks. I discovered that I can hold my breath just long enough to run down two flights of stairs and make it to fresh air on the first floor. Aye, I’m gonna miss working here.

Bucket List.

April 22, 2009

Hehe, work is slow today. If I had known we’d be leaving SD so soon, I would have created a bucket list way long ago & actually had time to do everything! Unforch, time is limited, days are busy, and there are other priorities. Haven’t really thought through it very thoroughly, but a couple that come to mind:

1. Try some dole whip (I’ve gone twice & they were out both times.)
2. Go strawberry picking in Carlsbad (always wanted to, but the college girls’ recent trip makes it looks so fun & delicious!!)
3. Get all-you-can-eat at Tadashi (my fave sushi in SD)
4.

Oppa, a little help adding to the list?

Haha, strawberry picking is probably out of the picture. Def no time for that. But dole whip & maybe Tadashi are doable! Let’s do it!

Lasts.

April 21, 2009

With a month to go until I move to Orange County and a month and a half until our wedding, I’ve been having lots of sentimental thoughts… So I says to Steve:

C: Do you ever think that this is your last _______?
S: (silence)
C: Liike, this bottle of face lotion is the last bottle of face lotion I will buy before I’m married! Or… this tube of toothpaste is the last tube of toothpaste I will use before I’m married!
S: Mm…… I think about basketball. My last time to play bball with the guys.
C: Oh. Well then.

Obviously, we are different. However, there are many lasts! And they are quickly approaching… Makes me sad and excited at the same time.

4/20 Last time cheering for Steve in his city league (didn’t know it was a last till yesterday)
